Assistant Pastor's Annual Report |
Annual
Report 2006
Ron
Campbell, Assistant Pastor
My weekly ministries include Shepard of God, Meadowlark, Hospice, when
needed, visitation, phone calls, counseling, working with a few people who
cannot leave home, helping lead worship and Juvenile Hall. Renee’ and I were
blessed last year with Richy and Nicole LaGrange being lead to help us with this
ministry. It is so clear that Christ has given them a heart for these kids. It
has been a joy for us to get some young blood involved with some fresh ideas as
well. They have taken this ministry on full time since my sabbatical.
Here are some other highlights of last year:
January
was a very busy month with all the flooding from the storms in December 2005.
Ryan and I worked with the Red Cross setting up shelters for people who were
evacuated as well as doing damage reports. I will always cherish those memories
of working with Ryan. Renee’ and I helped with the Grand Opening of the new
Juvenile Hall. I did one funeral service. We spent a lot of time on the Josh
McDowell event, my part was to help find sponsors and help with general
planning.
February
Renee and I prepared lunch for the Josh McDowell luncheon. I had a sunrise
service for the Siskiyou Bowmen Archery Shoot and helped plan for the men’s
campout. I counseled a young man who was talking about suicide and pointed him
to Jesus for the strength to carry on.
March
I had three funerals, preached two Sundays and many hospital visits this month.
We helped with the Josh McDowell event.
April
included another sunrise service for the Siskiyou Bowmen and a Pastor’s
retreat in Nebraska.
May
was busy with wedding counsels and
starting interviews for our new youth pastor.
June
we had the men’s campout at Orr Lake, two funerals and Renee’ and I took a
young pregnant girl to a rehab center down below Chico. We had worked with this
young lady for several years in the Juvenile Hall.
July
we housed the candidates for the youth pastor search committee. We also planned
and prepared the barbeque for the committee and youth to meet the candidates. I
preached two Sundays and had one funeral and one wedding.
August
I preached one Sunday and preformed two funeral services. Renee’ and I built
the backdrop and set up for Siskiyou Golden Fair booth. What a great outreach
for all our local churches to minister together. This was a first for our
fellowship of churches. We received good reports from all churches on how God
used this ministry.
September
I preached one Sunday and had many hours of counseling and preformed two
weddings.
October
and November ----- Sabbatical
----- Thank you so much. What a great time of refreshment. I did work hard on
digging ditches and foundation, putting in water lines and conduit for the power
lines, all for our new home. Renee’ and I took one week and traveled to the
coast. We took books and our Bibles and we had a wonderful time studying the
Word together. The weather was so bad that we only walked the beach once or
twice. What a refreshing and growing time it was with the Lord. We also visited
many different churches during this time and we were touched by the different
ways that God’s people worship Him. None of us could have possibly known what
God was really preparing us for.
December
we traveled to Portland for Andy and Jill’s wedding. That evening Renee’ and
I received a call telling us that Ryan had been injured. At that moment we began
to see how God’s kingdom really works. People who had been at the wedding
started to pray, prayer chains had been called, John checked for possible
airplane flights on his laptop, Chris and Robin Tyhurst took us to the airport.
The
lady behind the counter at the airport said you’re too late but let me try to
get you on that plane. At that point we began to see how God works best. In
forty short minutes we went from the front door of the airport (without a
ticket) to stepping on the plane as they shut the door behind us. We all know
that was the hand of God and a direct result of your prayers already being
answered. When we stepped off the plane we had people waiting to take us to the
hospital. At the hospital we had nurses praying with us, churches from San Diego
started to send Pastors in to pray with us. A couple who had been on the boat
with Ryan came and prayed with us and brought six bags of food. Many young
adults from our church that are going to school, working or just living there,
who knew Ryan as their youth leader or friend, were there to support us. We saw
nurses buckle, doctors silenced and neurosurgeons weep. God was at work even
though the outcome was not the way we prayed. We asked for A miracle and
we received many. Then the phone calls began from family and friends. We
received support from fund raisers and nights of prayer, not only from our
church but many others. We know how some must have sacrificed to support us
through this time and continue to do so. We cannot say thank you enough. We will
say we love you and the heart that God has given you.
Thank you for allowing us to serve the Lord with all of you in this awesome body of His!
Love in Christ,
Pastor Ron Campbell
