Week of 2/2/25
Dear Church Family,
It is always uplifting to see how the Lord fits together different parts of our Sunday gatherings (praise, communion, and the teaching of the Word) to bless and encourage His people. Here's my take - God has invited us into a covenant through Jesus Christ where we are given all that we need to follow Him. We will not do that perfectly, but He is faithful to continue leading us on a path of growth where He offers His Holy Spirit and resources to "solve our problems, meet our needs, and give us the power and strength we need to serve Him." This is how we know God and make Him known.
If you didn't hear the message I would invite you to listen to Mark's teaching on the website(www.grenadaberean.org) or on the church app.
Home Enjoyment
Besides 1 Samuel 10 the following references were used in the sermon. Feel free to contemplate them and use them in your discussions or study. Luke 1:46-49, Jeremiah 29:11-13, John 14:15-17, Ephesians1:13-14, Ephesians 2:10
The sermon compared the Bible characters of Saul, David, Hannah and Mary. Do you find any of these people relatable? Other spirit-filled people from the Bible or church history?
What is the difference in your life between knowing “about” God and truly knowing God?
What do you think about the statement that was made in reference to Saul, “True humility is rooted in faith, while insecurity is rooted in pride?” Have you ever confused the two?
Discuss or think about this “Abiding in Jesus” slide from the sermon.
Knowing God <---> Faith <---> Obedience
Do you feel God calling you to step out in obedience with the help of the Holy Spirit in any way?
Have you taken that first step of faith as a Christian to be baptized? If not, are you ready to take that step?
Announcements
Choices Yreka, a ministry we support, is having an open house this Friday from 2-6pm. They would welcome anyone who can come and see more about their ministry to our community. They are located at 409 N. Main Street, Yreka.
In Christ,
Pastor Phillip
