Week of 2/16/25 and Potlatch
Dear Church Family,
Praying for you all and here is the follow up from this week's message.

Read 1 Samuel 12.
How do you make sense of the paradox in verses 1-3 that Israel asked/chose Saul and yet Saul is God's anointed/chosen?
Samuel is going to make the argument for Israel's sinfully asking for a king from verse 3-13. What do you think are the main points/arguments of his case?
Can you think of ways you resemble what Samuel is arguing against?
What do you think God was trying to communicate with the people in verses 16-18? How does that fit into what He is teaching them through Samuel?
Looking at verse 19 - does sorrow or fear equal repentance? (2 Corinthians 7:10)
Looking at the rest of the chapter... How does this help us understand what repentance looks like? How is faith shown to be more than just thoughts about God?
One of the ideas that is apparent in this text is Samuel offering a picture of redemption for Israel, that they can still return to the covenant God made with them.
Does God give them a list of ways to 'pay him back' or 'make it right'?
Then what does it look like for them to return?
How does faith come into the picture?
What does it look like to be faithless?
Should we fear God? (Proverbs 9:10, Matt. 10:28)
Then how can we trust Him? (1 John 4:17-19, Romans 5:8)
