Week of 2/22/26

Dear Church Family,
My heart is so glad for the past few Sundays, the praise, the opportunity to preach God's Word and be encouraged in living out the truth of Jesus' life given for us and to us! And then to celebrate that in the baptisms, what a blessing! May Jesus be praised!
I have not said much about it, but Easter is around the corner. I would encourage you to begin thinking about the death and resurrection of Jesus and how those events shaped history and how they shape how we are called to think about daily life: temptations, aspirations, and what is truest and most valuable.
Also, please begin to those who will attend churches this Easter in churches throughout our area, that Jesus would be seen for who he is and they might come to value the church as Jesus does.

For those interested in the Financial Stewardship Seminar this Saturday (2/28) here is a link to register.

Home Enjoyment
Read Titus 1:1-5.
Considering Paul's introduction -
Why was it significant Paul used his gentile name? What did Paul leave behind or out of the picture by not using his Jewish name? Paul became all things to all people 'that he might save some' (1 Cor 9:20-22). What could that look like for us?

Paul calls himself a slave(doulos) of God.
Is that oppressive or demeaning? Why  or why not? (Read Luke 17:7-10 and 1 Cor 6:19-20)
What aspects of being a slave seem so difficult to us?
What are some things we need to see/understand about God to live joyfully as 'doulos'?

Apostle means 'sent one', who sent Paul and why is that important to Titus and the churches?

Compare the second half of verse 1 - "for the sake of the faith of God's elect and their knowledge of the truth, which accords to godliness" with the parable of the sower in Matthew 13:1-9, and 18-23. Where do you see faith, truth, and godliness in this parable?

What general understanding do we get of God's timing in sending Jesus when he did in Galatians 4:4-5 and Ephesians 3:7-11?

Why was it important for Paul to commend Titus to the Cretans? How do we lend credibility to brothers and sisters in their service of Jesus?

How would you explain the connection between grace and peace that Paul so often uses in his greetings? (Read Romans 5:1-5)

May God bless you as you grow in godliness because of your faith in our true and gracious God!

In Christ,
Pastor Phillip
