Week of 6/14/26 and Men's Breakfast

Dear Church Family,
My heart is genuinely glad to be a pastor among you. When I think of the things that the Lord is doing, and I mean even within the very difficult things I see happening in your lives, I am thankful that he has given me the opportunity to see his faithful work in your lives and mine. He is SO good to us and every step that we can trust and obey him more is an opportunity to know that goodness. He wastes nothing and lacks nothing in bringing our lives to the place glorifying his love for us.
Carefully consider Romans 8:32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?
Do you see the extravagance of God's grace towards you? How does this reshape the narrative you are living by in terms of God's love, help and instruction in your life today? What does this say about his ultimate purpose for you?
I would invite you to read the whole of Romans 8 if this challenges how you are seeing your life circumstances in light of Jesus' sacrifice for us.
Below I have some follow up questions and study on the sermon from this last week as well as some tie-ins with Romans 8.

Men's Breakfast this Saturday morning (6/20) at 8am! Great food and fellowship, bring your Bible!

Berean Enjoyment
This study doesn't require having heard Tyce's message on spiritual warfare from last Sunday, but it definitely helps and is worth hearing if you have a moment!
Read Matthew 3:16-4:11.
What are some ways that God speaking about Jesus' identity is helpful for us knowing he was about to be tempted? Do you think God's words were encouraging to Jesus even though he knew the truth of his identity?
Why is it important for us to know our identity as we walk through times of temptation?
(Read Ephesians 5:1-4)

What were the appeals to Jesus' desires that Satan made in tempting him?
How are Satan's questions reminiscent of his tempting Eve in the Garden of Eden?
What are some common appeals Satan makes in tempting us?
Satan definitely uses our physical desires to tempt, but what about our sense of purpose and perception of God or justice and more abstract things? How would Satan try to get us to question or move away from God in those or similar areas?
Take a moment to write down the truths from God that combat your most common temptations. If you need help, ask someone in your small group or someone you trust to give you specific scriptures and truth to go to when tempted.

Tyce focused a lot on how God desires for us as his children to hear his voice and follow him and that temptation is Satan's attempt to destroy that. His final points of application were...
1) Unhurried listening to the Father's voice in scripture.
How often are you making enough room in your reading of scripture that you aren't hurried? Why does this make a difference in our relationship with God and others?
2) Rebuking Satan and demons in Jesus' name. Claiming scripture out loud.
By what authority do we conduct spiritual warfare? What do Jude 1:9 and Ephesians 6:10-18 teach us about the source and means of engaging the spiritual realm daily?
3) Sharing our struggles in safe Christian community, then encouraging and praying for one another.
What makes Christian community safe? Unsafe? Why is their safety in community? How often do you take time to encourage someone in hearing God's truths and pray for them in person?

Ask the Lord to help you grow in each of these and look for opportunities to do them!

Extra Credit - Read Romans 8 - What parallels do you see with the message of listening to the truth from the Father and rejecting the lies of Satan? Take time to write out the beautiful truths you find that would help you combat the enemies lies of condemnation, abandonment, God not being able to heal, redeem, or save, etc.

May we as a local church listen to the Father's voice, reject Satan's voice, and commit to encourage one another in seeking and understanding God's voice and living by his words every day.

In Christ,
Pastor Phillip
