Week of 9/6/26 and RCTC Gala coming up
Dear Church Family,
We had to pivot this last week because of the weather, and I know that changed a number of people's plans, but I am thankful we were able to gather in multiple places and praise Jesus as Savior together. The Berean churches who gathered are just a small part of the Body of Christ in Siskiyou County, but it is a joy to see our brothers and sisters and to be encouraged in knowing the greatness of Jesus Christ and making Him known in our communities!

I am looking forward to being back together this Sunday and I am praying for us all to 'hunger and thirst' for Jesus Christ and Him being 'formed in us' for our good and His glory! Galatians 4:19 "my little children, for whom I am again in the anguish of childbirth until Christ is formed in you!"
Remember that the RCTC Gala is coming on Tuesday, Sept. 15. Cost is $35/person. It's a wonderful evening supporting this recovery ministry and hearing testimony of God's work in men's lives! Here is the registration link.

This week is a brief break from our Statement of Faith study. There is a lot here, so consider how you may want to break it down or if there is just one section you focus on as a small group.
Read Ephesians 1. We will focus on 15-22, but 1-14 are very important context.
What is the 'for this reason' or 'therefore' in verse 15 referring back to?
Paul sees that they believe in Jesus, why doesn't he just get onto the instructions?
What is the benefit of what he is going to pray and say in the rest of the chapter?
How does Paul describe a saint according to verses 1-14?
What are some examples of what love for “the saints” could look like?
In verses 17-21 Paul prays three things for the saints in Ephesus and gives three things he wants them to have as a result.
What three things does Paul pray for them?
Where does the spirit of wisdom come from?
What are some examples of man's wisdom differing from God's?
What are some common places where people receive earthly wisdom every day?
How do you know what is God's wisdom and what is man's?
Read 1 Cor 1:18-21(through 31 if you have time), AND Luke 9:23-25.
What are some ways God's wisdom is in conflict with man's wisdom?
What is revelation in the knowledge of Him? Who is 'Him'? What is being revealed about Him? How is that of utmost importance?
Lots of people have 'revelations from God', how do we know what revelation is true or untrue? Eph. 2:19-20, 3:4-5.
Our experience is in no way on level with the special revelation of Jesus through scripture. How would Paul's prayer and study of the Word be helpful for someone seeking to have revelation of Jesus concerning the circumstances of their life?
How does a prayer for the revelation of the knowledge of Jesus change how we watch the news or understand what we see on social media?
What does it mean to have “the eyes of your heart” enlightened?
What does the heart represent historically?
Who or what is the source of light? John 8:12, Psalm 119:105.
Jesus is the Word, is the Light! : )
Why wouldn't we want light in our lives? Read John 3:19-21.
Read Matthew 6:19-24. How does this help you understand Paul's prayer for the 'eyes of their hearts to be enlightened'?
A heart full of light sees that Jesus is of greatest worth and loves Him and what He loves. That heart sees things and people proportionately through His eyes.
What are the three results Paul desires for them to have from his prayer? (number three is really long, but really good : )
Can faith and hope be made tangible? Read Hebrews 1:1
How does faith lived out with Jesus give us a real and present assurance?
Who is the giver of the inheritance? What is our inheritance?
This passage doesn't particularly spell out what our inheritance is, but scripture points out that it is all that Jesus deserves and has accomplished by His perfect work in His life, death, and resurrection. That includes us and so much more!
Read 1 Peter 1:3-5.
Consider for a moment the wonder and love of God in sharing His inheritance with His prodigal sons and daughters! What love, what patience, what complete grace!
How does the resurrection speak of God's power toward us who have believed?
Romans 6:3-5
How does the resurrection speak of Jesus conquering earthly and heavenly powers?
Read Acts 2:22-24, 36, Colossians 2:13-15.
Jesus is the head - He knows the Body, loves the Body, and leads the Body. Is there any trouble or task that He is not sufficient for in your life? What do you need to trust Him to 'fill you' with today?
These are deeper thinking questions meant for meditation throughout the week.
How does 'a spirit of wisdom' from the Father lead to knowing the hope to which we are called?
In what ways does the 'revelation of the knowledge of Him' lead to knowing we will receive an inheritance from the Father through Jesus Himself?
How does seeing Jesus as having the greatest worth help us understand His power of death and all authorities on heaven and earth?
Grenada church, I am also thankful for Jesus’ wonderful work in us in this place and pray that God would give us more and more of Christ, the suffering servant who reveals the Father's salvation to a dying world! May we love Him and others as He loves us!
