Week of 10/25/26 and Light Night

Dear Church Family,
It is good to be back with you after being away. It was a whirlwind trip, but very valuable and I hope to share more in the next week or two.
It has been a blessing to know and hear how your ministry to one another in the face of physical and spiritual trials these last few weeks continued on. That is a picture of walking in maturity in a church, when 'siblings' care for one another without prompting. I pray we continue to grow more and more in ministering to one another's needs and walking with each other towards Jesus and obeying his words!
As John pointed out in his message this Sunday, the daily work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer is a testimony to themselves of God's faithfulness and to a watching world of the eternal life we have in Jesus Christ.
John's message reminded me of a song we have often sung 'Yet Not I But Through Christ In Me'.
I invite you to consider his message in the Berean Enjoyment below and ask the Lord to walk in the life he offers you today!

Saturday is Light Night (10/31 from 6-7:30) - Light Night is a fun community outreach where we will have decorated car trunks, games, snacks, mazes, skits, music, and scripture that point towards the light of Christ in the midst of darkness. Please come and bring your friends! We are still in need of a few more vehicles/games and donated candy if you are able to help!

Berean Enjoyment
Sunday we looked at 1 John 5:11-13, with the sermon titled “Things are Different Now”. Think back on your life before coming to Christ. How has your life changed after receiving “life” from God the Father?

Jesus invites us to pray to “our Father in heaven”. Sunday we saw many places where the Father demonstrates His love for us. In John 16:26–27 Jesus says “In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I will request of the Father on your behalf; for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me and have believed that I came forth from the Father.” How does this effect your prayer life?

John 17:3 describes eternal life as knowing God and knowing Jesus who he sent. That central truth of “Eternal life” is pictured in Scripture in many ways, with each emphasizing an aspect of that life. Some examples we saw were living water, being born again, transferred into Jesus’ kingdom, abiding in the vine, being ‘in Christ’. Are there other metaphors that help you understand that “eternal life” is? And how does the present tense, “having eternal life”, impact your thinking?

The picture of the stereogram helped me (John) understand what it means to have ‘life’ in Jesus. I was reminded that I often focus on the ‘dots’ rather than the ‘depth’ of life. How can we train our spiritual eyes to focus on ‘life’, rather than the dots?

We also saw that those without life, without the Son, cannot understand the things of God. Satan blinds their minds, and people ignore (sometimes deliberately) the evidence that God has displayed. How can we help people see the eternal?

Father, please help us as your children to long for more of the life given to us through Jesus and his life and sacrifice. May we be transformed into his image for your glory and our good, that others may see you and come to know you!

In Christ,
Phillip
