Week of 2/1/26

Dear Church Family,
I hope this email finds you looking to the Lord today to supply your needs according to the riches given us in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). If you need complete forgiveness - it is there, if you need encouragement in doing what is right - it is there, if you need hope for the future that is deeper and greater than the other places you might be thinking you might find hope today - it is there. Wisdom is available as you seek him for it! Take a moment and consider your perceived needs this morning and how it is that Jesus meets that need and pray for his way and will to be done in what you bring to him. If you don't know how Jesus meets that need, reach out to a brother or sister who is mature in the faith and ask them!

Home Enjoyment
Read 1 John 5:18-21
Looking at verse 18, what 3 statements does John say 'we know' for sure?
How does 1 John 3:9-10 help you understand 'everyone who has been born of God does not keep on sinning'?
Does he say that the person who has been born again never sins again?
How does the statement 'but he who was born of God protects him' offer hope?
Read 2 Thessalonians 3:2-5 in order to better understand and connect the previous statement with the last statement - 'and the evil one does not touch(literally 'lay hold of') him'?
Read Luke 22:31-32 - How does considering Peter's denial of Jesus give you perspective on this passage?

Looking at verse 19, what does John want us to 'know'?
Why is it important to remember that the world lies in the power of the evil one?
How could that keep us from being proud?
How could that keep us from being deceived?
How could that keep us from accusing God?
What perspective John 16:33 give on verse 19?

Looking at verse 20, what does John say 'we know'?
Can you recall other places in 1 John where John emphasized the physical coming of Jesus? Why is that important?
Is the understanding that Jesus offers some special form of enlightenment or is it available to everyone? Read 1 Corinthians 1:20-25, 2:1-5.
Do you see the Trinity in this passage? Where is the Holy Spirit seen?
Just take a moment to consider the wonder of this verse! That we can know these things because of the work of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is truly wonderful!!

Looking at verse 21.
What are some physical things that could be idols for you?
What are some desires or immaterial things that could be idols for you?
Does Exodus 20:3-6 capture everything above? Anything else?
How do you deal with idols?

Please remember the diaper drive if you are wanting to help support Choices in
that way!

In Christ,
Pastor Phillip
