Week of 1/26/25

Dear Church Family,
The day is getting late and I am behind in getting this out, but I am thankful that it is because the Lord is at work in His church, giving us the opportunity to be salt and light in a world that desperately needs Him. I need Him, you need Him, and He has made Himself available to all who would believe and at all times 'even to the end of the age'!

Home Enjoyment
Read 1 Samuel 9.
What are a few of the 'foreseen circumstances' you find in this passage that Saul and others were unaware of?
Why is God taking so much effort to show us his hand in this situation?
If you didn't know the end of the story, would you have any concerns about Saul yet? Why or why not?

How does seeing God reveal the details in this story increase your faith?
Is there such a thing as unforeseen circumstances?
If we believe God is familiar with all our circumstances, what are some of the questions we should be asking him?
How does that shape our obedience in a difficult circumstance? (That will be very important as we continue to study Saul).

Read Psalm 139. Let the truth there motivate you to respond in faith-filled worship and obedience.

Extra Credit
Consider the similarities in the story between Saul meeting the young women coming to the well and the Samaritan woman who met Jesus at the well(John 4, esp vs 39)
What does it tell us about God and his knowledge of us and our circumstances?
Why do we hide?

In Christ,
Pastor Phillip
