Week of 9/7/25
Dear Church Family,
I want to remind you there are several things happening in the next week or two that are important in the life of the church and worthy of your prayers and likely your participation.
- We just began Life Group sign ups this Sunday. I hope you will consider whether the Lord would want to grow you in your faith by participating in one of these this fall/year. If so, check out the Life Group table this coming Sunday to see where they are meeting and sign up.
- Men's Breakfast is this Saturday at 8am. It is always a good time of camaraderie around testimony and God's Word.
- Awana and Jr High ministry begins NEXT Wednesday the 17th at 5:30. Kids ages 4-Jr High.
- High School Youth Group has already started, Sundays 4-6pm.
- The 'Do Well' Crown Financial Class begins on the 17th as well. It runs for 10 weeks and is like a short life group focused on handling finances as outlined in God's Word. (I personally have benefitted in my life from a course by this ministry.) It is worth the time!
- Sunday School (Sundays 9am) and Adult Bible Study (Thursdays 10am) are both back in action.
If you are doing all of these or none of these, I ask that you pray for the relationships that are being formed and strengthened with God and each other. This is important for us, not just as 'things to do', but ways to grow in Knowing God and Making Him Known.
Home Enjoyment
In looking at the difference between the mindset of working for salvation and working from salvation I would simply invite you to read the two following accounts and compare them.
Mark 10:17-27 AND Luke 19:1-10
What are some of the contrasts that you see between these two men?
Do they remind you of yourself in any way?
Zaccheus changed so significantly over what could be seen as such a simple thing. What do you think made him see Jesus as worthy of such a response?
Be honest with yourself, what would you consider your basic motivation for most of the 'good' things you do right now. Would it be from love or faith in Jesus as Savior and Friend?
What do you believe needs to happen to shift your perspective from working for God's favor to working for him and his glory?
Is there anything that is clouding your sense of Jesus' worth in your life?
Last thought. One of you graciously shared Joel 2:25 with me following the message seeking to give comfort for the idea of loss from being faithless and distracted. I can vouch for the contents of that verse! God can restore what we thought was totally lost or irredeemable as we trust and follow him. This is part of amazing grace!
If you despair from lost opportunity I invite you to meditate on this verse and declare your trust in God's ability to make new and restore what would otherwise be lost.
In the Love of Jesus Our Savior,
Pastor Phillip
