Week of 10/26/25
Dear Church Family,
This email is a day later than usual, but I hope you are doing well and for the Tuesday night groups that you were able to look to the scriptures together and encourage one another through prayer and looking towards the biblical Christ together!
One important thing before 'home enjoyment'.
Just as we have studied in 1 John I want you all to remember as we go into Halloween that God is Light! We are not afraid of the darkness, but we recognize it is real and is the result of man's rebellion against God. We are not afraid of death, but we recognize it also is real and therefore the subject of fascination of man who longs for immortality, but only sees decay (Zombies anyone??). My prayer for us as a church is that we would shine the light of Jesus Christ unashamedly through this holiday and be clearly seen as those who reject the deeds of darkness, so we can invite people to the light of Jesus Christ. From Ephesians 5 -
11Have no fellowship with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. 12For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 13But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for everything that is illuminated becomes a light itself.
Halloween opens up all kinds of opportunities to talk about spiritual matters, life after death, the reality of evil and the demonic. Whether a parent, teen, grandparent, or child - Do not by naive, indifferent, or unapproachable, but ready to give a reason for the hope that is within you! (1 Peter 3:15)
Home Enjoyment
Read 1 John 2:18-28.
When are the 'last days'?
Jesus warned of being ready for his coming soon and told the parable in Matthew 24:45-51. What do you think he was trying to emphasize?
In 2 Peter 3:8-9 what understanding or reasons are offered for the apparent delay?
Is there a difference between 'The Antichrist' and 'the antichrists' John refers to here?
What is it that the many antichrists that have come out of the church throughout the ages have in common? (vs 22)
How would you be able to recognize a teaching that brought a biblical Jesus into question?
What motivations might people have in trying to deceive others in regards to Jesus?
There are a number of religions(Islam, Mormonism) that have had 'angelic revelations' that use Jesus but make additions to how you gain salvation. What does Paul say to that in Galatians 1:6-10?
John brings it all back to abiding in the true Jesus. How do we know who the true Jesus is in the midst of all of the confusion? Read John 8:31-32, John 17:14-17.
How does the Holy Spirit help us in worshipping the true Christ?
What cultural amalgamations of Jesus have you been tempted to accept?
How do these hinder us from responding to(or worshipping) Jesus in a way that he receives the glory he deserves?
I am looking forward to being together with you all this coming Sunday.
May the light of the Risen Christ shine brightly through you this coming week!
In Christ,
Pastor Phillip
