Week of 4/7/24
Hello Church Family,
Praise God for Spring! I thank God for a built in reminder that what looks like death He can bring to life. Based on conversations about last Sunday's message with several folks, I agree that the call to imitate God in sacrificial love and obedience is both wonderful and intimidating. I hope we will not forget that the ability to love like Him starts with believing and giving thanks to God for the wonderful things he has done (We love because He first loved us). It is in beholding God's forgiving us in Christ that we grow in the transforming love and forgiveness of God (Eph. 4:32-5:1-2)!
Home Enjoyment
From the Ephesians 5:1-2
Review and discuss the connection between...
Imitating God AS Beloved children.
Walking in love AS Christ loved us and gave himself for us.
What are some examples of how we imitate others? How does that relate to imitating God? And why is it so hard sometimes?
What does it mean to 'walk in love'?
Can you think of ways besides the cross that Jesus showed his love for us? How does that make the cross more amazing?
Read 1 John 3:1-3 and 1 Peter 4:1-5.
How does seeing Christ suffering for sin instruct us about sin?
Why do we have such a hard time recognizing sin?
How does our testimony serve as a fragrance to others? What makes it pleasant or unpleasant to others? (2 Cor. 2:14-16 for extra)
**This next week I will be preaching partly on more adult themes, while I will do my best to do this tastefully, I want parents to be prepared for that.
Looking forward to opening up God's Word together and praying we continue to grow in living it out!
In Christ,
Pastor Phillp
