Week of 3/31/24
Hello Church Family,
In our culture it would not be particularly surprising to see Easter candy go on sale by Sunday evening. Like most holidays it's as good as done on 'the day of' and we're on to the next thing. We start looking toward the next big event or gathering on our schedule.
I was thankful to have just a moment Monday and take a few minutes to reflect on what we celebrated this Sunday and to consider how I am responding to Jesus' resurrection.
I hope you will take a moment to slow down and do the same sometime this week.
Home Enjoyment
Read John 20.
In the message I talked about the responses of the different people in this story and their response to Jesus being resurrected (including Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus at the end of chapter 19).
Have you ever found it hard to identify yourself with Jesus?
What are two reasons or situations you've found that to be true?
Based on his responses to Mary Magdalene, his disciples and Thomas, what do you think Jesus would say to you about those reasons/situations?
The question that was getting at me this last week was whether I am 'finding life in his name'( vs 31)? Are you finding your greatest sense of peace and identity in Jesus or something else?
Perhaps Jesus feels very important to you, but something is taking your peace or perspective away from him. Is it a sin or shortcoming? Is it a current situation in your life or the world?
Will you take it to him in prayer? Consider scripture or worship that would help you restore your perspective. Ask a brother or sister for help or ideas. Scripture is what renews our mind so we don't fall into the same ruts. (Romans 12:1-2)
Announcements
Men's Breakfast at 8am Saturday followed by...Spring Cleanup around the church at 9:30am!
God bless each of you and I hope those who have spring break are able to enjoy spending time with your family!
In Christ,
Pastor Phillip
