Week of 1/18/26 and Potlunch/Annual Meeting

Dear Church Family,
I just want to say thank you for seeking after Jesus. Thank you for fighting the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the boastful pride of life. Thank you for seeking to invest in your life with Christ, your families, and one another without counting the cost. May Jesus be praised in Grenada and beyond as we live for His glory!

Home Enjoyment
Read 1 John 5:6-13.
Why does testimony matter in a court of law?
Why does testimony matter here in what John is saying?
Who all is John saying has testified concerning Jesus being the source of eternal life?
What is the water and blood? (I shared in the message about the water of birth and water of Jesus' baptism being the two most accepted interpretations.)
How do the water and blood each illustrate John's message of a physical Savior?
Was it really necessary for Jesus to suffer and be tempted like us? Why?
Read Hebrews 4:14-15 and 2:9-10*(*It is important to understand that suffering did not 'perfect' Jesus in the sense of making him sinless as we might see it, but rather made him the perfect Savior for us in suffering like us and for us. Also Isaiah 53:4-5)

What are some tangible examples of finding life in Jesus?
What are some examples of refusing life in Jesus?
Reread ch 4:19-5:3.

(Vs 9-12) How is God's testimony about Jesus shaping your life today?
How does not believing in Jesus as God has revealed make him out to be a liar?
How does the simplicity of verse 12 help us in our evangelism to 'good people'?

(Vs 13) Based on what John wrote here. How would you know if you had eternal life?
Do you have eternal life? What is the evidence?

As we move into the following verses John will use the believers understanding of their salvation as a basis for confidence in what we ask of God.
Take a moment to evaluate your confidence and confess areas that do not bear up to finding life in Christ or trusting his will and commands.

Annual Meeting and Potlunch
Please bring enough food to share this coming Sunday and plan on staying for an extra 45-60 minutes after lunch to hear about God's provision and direction for the ministry here at GCBC!

In Christ,
Pastor Phillip
