Week of 5/19/24
Dear Church Family,
Our time together Sunday was so special, I'm thankful for the Lord's grace to meet us and encourage us as we seek him together. I am thankful for those who have been convicted and asked for prayer, because that is a sign of His working. The last several weeks have been a lot. We have been preaching about marriage and parenting, but I know that also means thinking about dealing with spouses, ex's, singleness, fathers, mothers, children... all from our individual perspectives. There are as many different experiences as the faces I see each Sunday.
I am praying for each of you who are hearing the messages to be able to hear what God is saying through His Word and that each person experiences God's grace in coming to grips with what He is teaching them.
I mentioned previous Pentecost sermons for those interested...
Pentecost Sermons
1st sermon on the significance of Pentecost. Sermon begins at 36:31
2nd sermon understanding the role of the Holy Spirit. Sermon begins 49:47
Home Enjoyment
Read Ephesians 6:1-4
Do any passages come to mind of Jesus talking about God as Father come to mind that relate to this passage?
How does this passage help you understand Jesus' obedience?
What do you learn about our Heavenly Father from this passage?
Describe the difference between obedience and honor.
Can you think of any ways that your parents reflected the Heavenly Father to you? Give thanks for them and for the ways they showed you true things about God.
As for the opposite. Ask the Lord to help you forgive them for any places they did not reflect the Heavenly Father.
Where are you being called to show honor or obedience to your parents that has been hard or difficult? What about to God?
Read the passage again and invite God to discipline and instruct you in the areas you as His child need it.
Announcements
Potlunch this Sunday - please bring enough for your crew and enough to share with others!
Blessings to each of you and may you honor Jesus in your Memorial Day celebrations and thanksgiving for those who gave their lives in service for this country.
In Christ,
Pastor Phillip
