Week of 6/16/24

Dear Church Family,
In the midst of difficulty it is a beautiful thing to see the church at work. It has been a joy to see the church come around those in need the last few weeks in love, prayer, and practical support. That is really the heart of Christ for his body/one another that we need to continue to foster.
Consider what Peter says in his second epistle. (2 Peter 1)
3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, 4 by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. 5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, 7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. 8 For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

May we grow in being fruitful and effective in knowing Jesus!

Home Enjoyment
Read Ephesians 6:10-15.
What does it mean to be strong in the Lord and the strength of his might? What places in your daily life do you attempt to be strong apart from him? Who are some flesh and blood people you tend to fight or focus on instead of the spiritual battle around you/them? How do you shift your focus to the real battle?
Where are places you are tempted to compromise truth to try and fit in with people around you? Are you accepting 'truth' of 'facts' about life from somewhere besides the Bible? How would these make you vulnerable in seeing the spiritual battle? In what ways do you try to protect yourself with your righteousness? How do you start to trust more in Jesus' righteousness? What role does humility play?
If your feet were planted on a foundation of either 1)trying to stand in comfort and personal or worldly priorities OR 2)trying to stand on what Jesus did for you(giving you peace with God through personal sacrifice) and doing that for others, where do you find yourself?

Ask the Lord for daily help in being strong in him and putting on his truth, righteousness, and readiness in the gospel of peace so you are ready for spiritual battle.

May God Bless and Strengthen You in Our Lord Jesus,
Pastor Phillip
