Week of 10/20/24
Good morning Church,
I hope you were blessed and challenged by the message this past Sunday on God's Heart for Giving. Here are some questions that might stimulate your thinking as you dive a little deeper into the Biblical topic of giving and generosity.
Was there something that particularly resonated with you or that you learned for the first time? Share that with your group or a friend.
In Matthew 6:22-23 Jesus teaches that the "eye is the lamp of the body." We learned that the eye being healthy or bad means having a generous or stingy attitude, and that when we are generous we are full of light, but when we are stingy we are full of darkness. Reflect on what it means to be full of light or darkness in this passage.
Why do you think the New Testament never prescribes a specific 10% tithe for Christians like the Old Testament Levitical law?
Compare the teaching about the ant in Proverbs 6:6-11 with the parable of the Rich Fool in Luke 12:13-21. What exactly is the sin of the Rich Fool?
What are some personal examples of your own faith being strengthened by being generous or receiving generosity from others?
I'm praying for your Life Groups as you meet this week. I pray that through this message we may know God a little better, and are better equipped to make Him known.
Don't forget the all-church potluck after church this week! Also, Trunk or Treat coming up and Operation Christmas child boxes being prepared.
Blessings,
Mark
