Week of 6/30/24

Dear Church Family,
What a full and wonderful worship service! I am so thankful for all that God has done over the years to reach our kids and community through Kidder Creek and to be able to be part of what the Lord is doing there.
As for the message, there are no coincidences, and I really appreciated what Andy taught in regards to suffering. That was one of the talks at Jr Bible Camp last week also. I have no doubt there are those who needed to hear it and those who needed to be reminded. But I really appreciated the challenge he gave for those who have seen and are experiencing the goodness of God to come alongside those who are in the throes of suffering.

Home Enjoyment
Andy Warken spoke from the Kidder Creek summer theme verse of 1 Peter 1:6-7. Before looking specifically at trials and suffering I would encourage you to first read what Peter wrote in verses 3-9 and write down any themes you see that connect with our study of what Paul wrote to the Ephesians.

How do these verses reveal the goodness of God in the face of suffering?
What is given as our cause for rejoicing/joy in verses 6 and 8,9?
What is the role of faith in the midst of a trial or suffering (verse 7 and throughout)?

Suffering can be caused by different things, our sin, others sin, and by our choosing to be part of Jesus' redemption plan in loving sinful people.
How does that help you understand verses like Philippians 1:29 and Colossians 1:24?

How are you doing in the face of the things you have suffered?
Have you come to see how God's grace is bigger than your self-inflicted suffering?
Have you experienced or asked for God's healing for suffering at the hands of others?
Have you entered into suffering or trials for others lately that they might know Christ better?
All of this is done through FAITH... "may [it] be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 1:7

Announcements/Prayer
I mentioned the site to help fund immediate needs for Jim Hawkinson as he recovers from his fractured pelvis. He and Jeanie are very thankful for all the support and prayer that they have received from the body of Christ at Grenada. Please continue to pray for healing and strength for Jim.

Please also pray for Susannah as she and her team have arrived in Taiwan and begin serving through local churches there.
Also for Jim and Debbie Haines and the CMA crew as they put on the Ignite youth rally the next several days. They have a great desire to see the next generation seeking Jesus and making him known to those around them.

In Jesus' Love,
Pastor Phillip
