Week of 10/6/24
Hello Church Family,
Fall always reminds me that what looks like death can actually be beautiful and result in new life. "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit." John 12:24
Consider how God is asking you to lay your life down this day and season in order to produce what He desires. Jesus laid down His life not just as an example, but as our salvation!
Pastor John shared on Sunday several reasons that is so significant, here is the home enjoyment to continue reflecting on what Jesus gives us through communion with him.
Home Enjoyment
Read Hebrews 7:26-28 and 2 Corinthians 5:21 (and keep a finger in each).
Why was Jesus' perfection necessary for us?
What was the reason behind Jesus taking on our sin?
Now read Hebrews 7:25 and 2 Corinthians 5:20.
To what extent is Jesus acting as our high priest? What is our response to what we've been offered?
Luke 22:19 says to partake of the bread in remembrance of [Jesus].
What are we remembering? Why?
John mentioned how the old testament Ark of the Covenant had the Mercy Seat on which the sacrificial blood was poured out. This Mercy Seat was above the Ten Commandments or Law that was inside the Ark. The ultimate picture is that God looks down through the shed blood of the innocent lamb and does not see all the ways the ways we have broken the law.
Do you look at Jesus' sacrifice that way for you? Take some time to meditate on that.
Extra Credit
Read 1 John 3:1-10. What does this say about the ongoing relationships between confession and communion?
The elders are meeting tomorrow and will be praying for you and our whole Church Family. Please let us know of any particular ways we can be praying.
In Christ,
Pastor Phillip
